By using an integrated MOSFET to protect low-voltage systems against voltage faults up to 28 V, the MAX14529E/MAX14530E eliminate the need for an external nFET. Additionally, the devices provide high-current USB charger detection and robust, ±15-kV electrostatic discharge protection (Human Body Model), all in a 1.5- by 2-mm, 12-bump wafer-level package. This extremely small footprint makes the ICs well-suited for cell phones, media players, PDAs, and other space-constrained applications. The MAX14529E/MAX14530E are fully specified over the ?40°C to 85° C extended temperature range. Prices start at $1.40 in quantities of 1000. MAXIM INTEGRATED PRODUCTS, Sunnyvale, CA. (800) 998-8800.
