Building on the success of its popular 5800A calibrator, which can verify the performance of digital and analog oscilloscopes with bandwidths up to 600 MHz, the manufacturer has launched a new calibrator that can handle bandwidths as high as 2.1 GHz. The 2.1-GHz capability is offered as an option for the new 5820A calibrator, as well as for the existing 5800A unit, with the former also offering as an option a five-channel output for facilitating hands-free automated calibration of multi-channel scopes. Other improvements and features built into the 5820A include: 600-MHz leveled sine/300-ps edge performance, with 2.1-GHz leveled sine/150-ps edge offered as an option; front panel current loop for calibrating current probes; dc voltage measurement to calibrate reference signals; and ±0.33 ppm frequency accuracy to cover counter functions and to provide better test margins.
