Explaining an AI Edge-Computing Solution—Plus Live IoT Demos

Dec. 20, 2022
The two solution demonstrations by STMicroelectronics, which took place at electronica 2022, focused on AI computing and the new Matter IoT protocol.

This video is part of our electronica 2022 coverage.

Here are two solution demonstrations that took place at the STMicroelectronics booth during electronica 2022, one on AI computing and the other based on the new Matter IoT protocol. The company's NanoEdge AI Studio is a machine-learning technology that can create an optimal ML library for a project, using a minimal amount of data.

NanoEdge is a PC-based push-button development studio for developers. It requires no specific data science skills, and runs on Windows or Linux Ubuntu. The Studio can generate four types of libraries: anomaly detection, outlier detection, classification, and regression libraries.

STM32WB wireless microcontrollers are based on an Arm Cortex‐M4 core running at 64 MHz (application processor) and an Arm Cortex‐M0+ core at 32 MHz (network processor). Supporting Bluetooth LE 5.3 and IEEE 802.15.4 wireless standards such as Zigbee, Thread, and Matter, device features include a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) RF transceiver with certified Bluetooth LE 5.3 radio stack, profiles from the Bluetooth SIG, and a Mesh profile-compliant V1.0 Bluetooth SIG release. A BLE LLD for proprietary protocols or a host controller interface (HCI) for BLE solutions can support either Zephyr or Arm Cordio stack to address various integration needs.
