The MP1800 series signal quality analyzers sport a modular architecture forming flexible and compact instruments for measuring bit error rate (BER) in optical transceivers and other digital devices. Capable of adapting to numerous challenges, options range from integrated optics to large parallel configurations with external mux/demux that extend frequency coverage to 43.5 GHz and beyond. Three units are available: the 4-slot MT1810A, 6-slot MP1800A and 16-slot MT1820A. The MP1800A integrates a controller and is appropriate for lab use, while the MT1810A is optimal for manufacturing. All three units support 12.5G BER testing and are expandable with pluggable optical interfaces supporting SFP or XFP transceivers. A standard configuration includes a 12.5G synthesizer, pulse pattern generator, error detector, and 128 Mb of user-definable, test-pattern memory. The series has a starting price of $54,000 with deliveries beginning in July. ANRITSU CO., Richardson, TX. (800) 267-4878.
