At DesignCon 2015, Sanmina (booth #611) announced its begun shipping new backplanes featuring high-speed production vector-network-analysis (VNA) testing. The backplanes will operate at frequencies up to 40 GHz. Incorporation of newer materials, which improved copper foil treatments and resin systems as well as reduced anisotropy in glass reinforcements, helped produce the higher transmission frequencies. Sanmina also introduced VNA and high-speed, robotic time-domain-reflectometry (TDR) testing in the production phase. Such testing was made possible through advances in robotics and high-speed data acquisition and processing.
