HARTING Now Offering Han-Eco B Series Connectors
Fulfilling an industry demand that has been requested for years, HARTING’s Han-Eco B series plastic connectors allow for rear mounting. Specifically, the rear-mounting feature simplifies assembly of prefabricated cabinet harnesses by enabling cables to be connected through the inside or outside of the cabinet. In addition, it allows cabinets and cable harnesses to be assembled separately. HARTING has made the connectors compliant with the Han B standard and consequently compatible with all Han B metal connectors. The connectors are available in standard sizes 6B to 24B with cable gland options of M20, M25, M32, and M40. Furthermore, they’re resistant to corrosion, fire-resistant to UL94 V0, and weigh about half of similarly available aluminum connectors.
New Spectrum Analyzers from Rohde & Schwarz Target 5G
Rohde & Schwarz’s latest spectrum analyzers, the FSV3000 and FSVA3000, support complex measurements at high frequencies. The analyzers are available in 4-, 7.5-, 13.6-, 30-, and 44-GHz frequency ranges. Analysis bandwidth for the FSV3000 is 200 MHz while the FSVA3000 will provide up to 400 MHz of analysis bandwidth. Both instruments are capable of measuring EVM values better than 1% at 28 GHz. Additional specifications include −101 dBc/Hz phase noise at 1-kHz frequency offset and 18-dBm typical third-order intercept at 1 GHz. They also feature 10.1-in. multi-touch full-color displays. For quicker test and measurement setup, an auto-set feature allows users to quickly configure the devices for commonly used measurements such as occupied bandwidth, TDP, CCDF, and EVM.
East Coast Datacom Unveils Portable Delay Simulator
To assist in network link testing, East Coast Datacom (ECD) has released a new portable delay simulator. The PDS-1/10G is capable of testing interfaces at speeds up to 10 GbE. In addition, it allows emulation of network impairments, including bandwidth restriction, latency, jitter, loss, and reordering. Bandwidth can be adjusted in 1-bit/s increments while delay is available for adjustment from 0 ms to 10 seconds in 1-ms increments. The unit comes in an enclosure ideal for desk and benchtop testing, but it can also be installed in rackmount or wall-mount fixtures. The simulator is configured through a GUI and requires no software to be installed. Overall, the device enables users to validate and optimize network links through controlled, repeatable impairments.
Rohde & Schwarz Launches Bluetooth 5.1 Test Solution
Bluetooth 5.1 promises to bring a new direction-finding feature so that devices can accurately locate other devices with centimeter accuracy. While current devices use signal strength to estimate the distance of other devices, Bluetooth 5.1 will add “angle of arrival” and “angle of departure” features to precisely locate other devices.
One of the most complete setups for testing such capabilities, developed by Rohde and Schwarz, is the CMW Wireless Connectivity Tester. The CMW platforms can support Bluetooth Classic, Bluetooth LE, and now Bluetooth 5.1. Supported tests include direct test mode, signaling tests, and audio tests on basic-rate and enhanced-rate data links. Bluetooth 5.1 support comes via a software upgrade that will be available for the test boxes. Although limited information is currently available, direction-finding test capabilities are expected with the software upgrade. The CMW boxes are also ideal for WLAN IEEE 802.11a,b,g,n RF testing.
B&K Precision’s 2680 Spectrum Analyzers Don’t Break the Budget
A new cost-effective RF test solution from B&K Precision includes the 2680 family of spectrum analyzers. They support channel power, adjacent channel power, and occupied bandwidth measurements. The spectrum analyzers come in 2.1- and 3.2-GHz models, both featuring a 10.1-in. TFT color display. A preamplifier and tracking generator further expand measurement capabilities. Some of the RF specifications include −98-dBc/Hz phase noise at 10-kHz offset and a 1-Hz minimum resolution bandwidth. The 2.1- and 3.2-GHz versions are priced at $2,950.00 and $4,490.00, respectively, and both come with a three-year warranty.
