A new series of low profile MLO low pass filters from AVX Corporation, based on their patented multilayer organic high density interconnect technology, utilize a combination of high dielectric constant and low-loss materials to enable the fabrication of multilayer, stacked passive devices, such as inductors and capacitors, with high volumetric efficiency, high Q, and exceptional electrical performance. Designed to support both a wide frequency range (0.4 – 6.5 GHz) and several wireless standards, the low-profile filters feature a 0.55 mm height profile, and exhibit excellent isolation, low insertion loss (≤1.3 dB), low parasitics, and 50 Ω impedance, suiting them for use in a variety of wireless applications, including mobile communication devices, GPS, vehicle location systems, wireless LANs, satellite receivers and instrumentation.
RoHS compliant and lead-free compatible, low-profile LP filters are currently available in four footprints with varying lengths (6.57, 7.38, 8.67 and 10.19 mm, ±0.10 mm) and fixed widths and heights (3.97 and 0.55 mm, ±0.10 mm, respectively), and are supplied with gold terminations that are compatible with automatic soldering technologies including: reflow, wave soldering, vapor phase and manual. The land grid array SMT packaging is expansion-matched to most organic PCB materials, operating temperatures span -55°C to +85°C, and the product can be shipped in waffle or bulk packaging. Lead-time for the MLO low pass filter series is currently 12 weeks.
