Two new medical grade wall-plug adapters from Phihong, the PMA10R-050AW (10 W) and the PMA18A-120PHW (18 W) are designed for use in minimally invasive, Type BF medical applied parts that have conductive, medium- or long-term contact with patients. Limited power sources with output leakage of <100 μA at 264 Vac / 50 Hz, the devices feature built-in over voltage, over-current, short-circuit, over-temperature, and brown-in/out protections.
The 10 W adapter, targeted for use in electronic equipment such as blood pressure monitors, respirators, ECG machines and hair dryers, is rated for 115 to 230 Vac input and 5 Vdc output, measures 50 x 71.7 x 40 mm, and its allowable operating temperatures span 5°C to +40°C with up to 93% relative humidity. Seven different ac interchangeable input plugs, each sold separately, are available for international compatibility.
Designed for use in CPAP and BiPAP machines, medical imaging equipment, nebulizers and blood pressure monitors, the energy-efficient 18 W adapter, is rated for 110 to 240 Vac input and 12 Vdc output, measures 43.2 x 82 x 30 mm, and its allowable operating temperatures span 10°C to +40°C with up to 95% relative humidity.
Both wall-plug adapters come with a 5.5 x 2.1 x 10 mm fork-and-groove dc plug with an inner (+V) and outer GND(-) plug pin assignment. In compliance with UL 60601-1 and IEC standards, they ensure a minimum of 4,000 Vac isolation, 8 mm creepage and double insulation. Pricing for the PMA10R-050AW starts at $9.45 each/1,000, and $16.20 each/100 for the PMA18A-120PHW.
