While the Arduino system has certainly introduced millions of people to the world of embedded programming, being able to debug complex sketches has been a challenge. Relying on Serial.print() and digital port writes takes time and space, is somewhat tedious and provides limited visibility into much of the raw hardware detail. Using Atmel Studio and inexpensive hardware debugging platforms available from Microchip introduces debugging at a professional level. The Arduino Sketch import utility provided by Atmel Studio pulls in an Arduino sketch, libraries and all and creates a formal and debug ready C++ project. From this environment full breakpoint functionality, hardware register inspection and more are now available. This video seminar covers the steps needed to enter a whole new world of Arduino debugging.
