Make Your Function Generator a Low-Cost RF Vector Signal Generator

    Jun 04, 2018

    Date: Wednesday, July 11, 2018
Time: 1:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time
    Sponsor: Keysight Technologies
    Duration: 60 Minutes

    Summary:

If you design devices that use IQ modulation in a spectrum that is getting more crowded with interference, then testing your devices via signal simulation is critical. You need to generate high-quality signals and be able to easily add real-world impairments to the signal to test the operation of your designs.  Now you can combine two low-cost Keysight instruments to create an RF vector signal generator at a fraction of the cost of off-the-shelf vector signal generators. Use a 2-channel 33522B or 33622A waveform generator with Trueform technology that offers excellent baseband IQ signal generation and a N9310 RF signal generator with optional IQ inputs as the RF modulator.

In this webcast, we will describe Keysight’s Trueform series of waveform generators with the IQ Signal Player option for generating IQ signals.  We will first discuss the 33500 and 33600 Series performance and how the exclusive Trueform waveform generation technology can help you produce accurate IQ signals.  We will then look at the 33500 and 33600 Series’ built-in features for simulating non-ideal conditions, impairments, on an IQ signal to verify the operation of your designs.

    Dave Tenney
    Power Specialist Americas & Europe
    Keysight Technologies

Dave began working at Hewlett-Packard in 1984, in the test & measurement group of the company. During his 34 years and as the company evolved from HP to Agilent to Keysight, Dave has held multiple positions in marketing with a special emphasis in product planning and marketing for dynamic signal analyzers, data acquisition systems, and general purpose instruments including waveform generators. As product manager, Dave is responsible for gathering customer insights for defining new products, and then introducing these products to customers. Dave is quite accomplished at working with lead customers, representing customer requirements during product development, positioning and pricing the products, and directing the marketing for new product introductions as well as working closely with the channel.

Dave holds a master’s degree in Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, specializing in dynamic signal analysis.
