Nonlinear structural analysis is concerned with structures where structural response, such as deformation or stress, is not proportional to inputs like applied loads. This behavior arises from:
- Nonlinear constitutive behavior, such as plasticity and hyperelasticity
- Large deformation, such as buckling
- Nonlinear boundary conditions, such as contact and friction
In this webinar, we will discuss the built-in and user-defined features that the COMSOL® software provides to capture nonlinear structural behavior and will highlight some best practices.

Temesgen Kindo works at COMSOL as an applications engineer, specializing in structural mechanics and equation-based modeling. Before joining the Burlington, MA office, Temesgen received his PhD in civil engineering from Duke University. He is interested in nonlinear mechanics, multiphysics problems, and applied mathematics.
