Hello,
Call me a skeptic (which I admit I am), but tearing up a road, embedding massive amounts of copper coils and iron cores, then resurfacing doesn't sound like a wise use of resources, particularly when there are recent reports of copper hoarding because...yeah...AI.
Then there's pesky ole Lenz's Law that basically says if you want to do cool things with magnetics on moving things, you'll build yourself a magnetic braking system.
Granted, there are justifications for induction charging. Perhaps taxi stands and bus stops would work, but I'm a big fan of trolley poles and catenaries for charging, and think that coast to coast electric trucks would become feasible if we had a government intelligent enough to install in-motion truck charging by catenaries for 20% of the extent of select interstate routes, and on steep hills and passes.
In any case, some folks are either genuine believers in the tech, or are playing the grift, so have a read of our article on in-road charging and judge for yourself. Drop a comment in support or speak your mind if it grinds your gears.
