Hello,
Everything these days is AI this, datacenter that, and, frankly, we editors at Electronic Design are just as guilty as anyone else in creating an awareness of technologies and techniques that enable the "Super Intelligence" scourge (sorry to be the luddite in the room).
Nonetheless, this likely-unprofitable, soon to be begging for taxpayer bailouts from a broke Treasury, flash in the pan is actually driving tech and components that the rest of us can use. Case in point is the first article I've put up in this issue—2200V GaN technology —significant for EVs and their charging infrastructure, and yet our image, chosen by the editor of that article, is a rack of equipment in a room.
When the AI market falls off the cliff as far as being a sustainable, profitable, business, guess who Last Machine Standing is? Yup, the machines our subscribers, you, are designing, testing, and manufacturing, that move.
So, please don't overlook the stuff I add to these newsletters....despite first glance impressions, like a rack of equipment in a pic, I do curate this newsletter's content and if something shows up in it, it's either directy applicable to Machines That Move ("Automotive Electronics", primarily, but aircraft, drones, space vehicles, and ships are also fair game as examples), or is interesting enough that I think an engineering mind would appreciate knowing about it.
Also, drop in on our Electronic Design Weekly compendium of stuff from the past week (linked here every Thursday) when you have some time on your hands, or while you're eating your cucumber sandwich. We have some additional content in it, including interesting stuff we highlight from our vast archives, editor picks, etc.
My contributions in particular are a regular weekly entry of articles/vids I find around the web (a feature in this newsletter that pretty much gets copied over to EDW), a video pick of the week on a wideranging variety of topics, as well as an "Inventors" cartoon series comic original that I hope is at least as funny as Dilbert was...
enjoy,
