Hello,
As I write this, which Western media has not picked up yet, Israel and the US have been alleged to have attacked Iran's energy infrastructure, despite President Trump's promise of a five day hiatus due to "promising talks".
The ensuing and endless cycles of retaliation, an incessant cultural and theistic tradition that has gone on for millennia, may take out vital infrastructure in the Middle East that includes evacuation of major cities for lack of desalinated water if those plants become retaliatory targets. No water means no people, no oil,and no derivative chemicals for plastics, semiconductors, or even pharmaceuticals.
Looks like it may be time to hire for a second and third shift for EV production, and to design miminmalist resource intensity cheap electric vehicles, assuming the supply chain can support the collateral war damage to petrochemical feedstocks, as gasoline goes beyond, what I think will easily hit, $8/gallon. The oil infrastructure damage by the warmongers on all three sides of this one will persist for the long term (3-5 years to restore), even worse if the conflict was not to end in a week or two - the $8/gallon notwithstanding present sensationalist pricing.
Petroleum lobbyists: "Oops"
