3-A Dc-Dc Converter Needs No Heat Sink

A high-efficiency, 5-V regulator that needs no heatsink can be designed using the LT1158 half-bridge, n-channel, power-MOSFET driver. It delivers better than 91% efficiency with a 12-V input and 2-A output.
