We've just about come to the end of another year. As the old saying goes, it's time to go "out with the old and in with the new." To us at Wireless Systems Design, that means that it's time to add some new editorial features. We've created a few sections to keep you better apprised of the global wireless marketplace. In this issue, we're giving you the chance to preview those additions firsthand.
First, take a look at our book-review section. It will examine some of the latest and best technical books on the market. The other new section, which is called "Around The World," will contain the latest wireless news from—you guessed it—around the world. It will highlight international research projects and development agreements as well as newly awarded contracts. It also will feature editorials from engineers and analysts from as far away as India, Japan, and Finland. The goal of these columns is to provide a better perspective on the global wireless industry. If you think that you have what it takes to offer an insider's view of a specific area of the world, drop me an e-mail. You may be selected as one of our recurring guest correspondents.
Now that I've told you what's new in this month's issue, it's time to talk about something old: the annual Wireless Systems Awards. Once again, we're asking for your help. Currently, we're accepting nominations in the following categories:
- The Industry Leader Award is given to the person who has been most instrumental in advancing and shaping the wireless industry.
- The Reader's Choice Award goes to the 2003 cover product that was deemed most valuable by the readers of Wireless Systems Design.
- The title of Best Wireless Technology will be bestowed upon the company with the most innovative wireless technology/component/material.
- The Best Wireless Product Award is given to the "best" new end product on the market.
- The Best Wireless Design Tool/Environ-ment/Platform spotlights the design tool/environment/platform that proved most useful to the engineers designing wireless systems.
All nominations should be sent to me by January 30, 2004 at [email protected]. The winners will be announced at the Wireless Systems 2004 event (www.wsdexpo.com). They'll also be featured in an upcoming issue of Wireless Systems Design. Until then, enjoy our new editorial sections. Feel free to send me your comments as well as suggestions for further additions. Most of all, have a safe and happy holiday season!
