The development of the electronics industry and Electronic Design parallel each other because we came of age virtually at the same time. That's why for this Magazine section of our commemorative issue we present a retrospective of our first 50 years in electronics, visiting the most significant events that marked the industry through the decades. As electronics grew and prospered, so did the magazine. We begin our retrospective with a succinct Chronicles of the industry, reviewing each decade in turn. Then, we acknowledge and pay tribute to those Survivors who, like Electronic Design, have been doing business in the electronics industry for 50 years or more and are still flourishing. Finally, we offer a fond look at 10 high-visibility introductions that, for one reason or another, did not make it.
