Power Aluminum Capacitors Snap Into Solar Apps

Nov. 10, 2012
Specified with a rated voltage of 500 V at 50°C and a category voltage of 450 V at 105°C, Vishay Intertechnology’s 193 PUR-SI series of snap-in power aluminum capacitors will make their way into a range of solar applications
Specified with a rated voltage of 500 V at 50°C and a category voltage of 450 V at 105°C, Vishay Intertechnology’s series of snap-in power aluminum capacitors will make their way into a range of solar applications. The long-life (5000 hours with no ripple current applied) 193 PUR-SI Solar caps feature a rated ripple current up to 2.52 A at +105°C and 100 Hz. Maximum operating temperature ranges up to +50°C. Since they are polarized aluminum electrolytic capacitors with a non-solid electrolyte, the devices are well suited for smoothing, filtering, and energy storage in pulsed power applications (e.g., solar PV inverters, industrial motor controls, and power supplies). Five sizes of the capacitors’ cylindrical aluminum case with pressure relief valve (insulated with a blue sleeve) are available, ranging from 35 by 30 mm to 35 by 60 mm.
