In every issue of Power Electronics Technology magazine, we are writing publishing information. Through these writings, we bring about a forum for debate and the exchange of ideas in the power electronics industry. Our editorial mission has always been to grow with the market and expand our coverage. In the future, we'll be placing more emphasis on the impact and interrelation of electronics product and process technology and business operations and management. With this in mind, some immediate steps to enhance this focus come with the following announcement.

Ashok Bindra has been appointed the new editor-in-chief of Power Electronics Technology. He occupies the editorial chair of Sam Davis, former editor-in-chief.

Ashok will lead and develop the print and electronic editorial effort of Power Electronics Technology. He is well qualified to take over the helm. He's a veteran writer and editor, bringing to us more than 20 years of editorial experience covering analog, power devices, and DSP technologies. Most recently, he was with Penton Media's, Electronic Design where — as a technology editor for more than four years — he covered similar beats. Prior to Electronic Design he spent more than 13 years as a senior technical editor at CMP's EE Times, writing special reports and organizing special series in these specialized areas. He cut his teeth in the profession of business-to-business editorial work as a components editor at McGraw Hill's Electronics magazine, following a short stint in the industry as an electronics engineer.

Ashok's educational experience is deep-rooted in engineering and scientific studies. He received a Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Clarkson College of Technology, Potsdam, N. Y. and holds a Master's degree in Physics from the University of Bombay in India. He has been involved in organizing educational analog/power workshops for engineers and has planned and developed panel sessions and technology forums at conferences like ICSPAT/DSP World Expo and Electro.

Under Ashok's editorial leadership, we expect our analysis and development of the most current data will continue to be constant, and our discussion with our readers and their view of the world around them will provide insight into the operating procedures and differences that exist within the industries that use electronic products and services.

Power Electronics Technology will continue its editorial mission — that is, we will write and edit with the purpose of providing the knowledge you need to operate more effectively and efficiently as the competitive engines of industry and commerce continue to drive the economy of the future. We'll continue to provide a detailed review of the major technical issues that confront you as an engineer, designer, and systems integrator. With every issue, our goal will be to provide readers with an incomparable editorial product.

Our desire for Power Electronics Technology is to heighten understanding and facilitate discussion on the subjects of greatest importance. To cover current technologies and issues, we rely on you our readers, to help us present a well-rounded public forum. We want to hear from you.

Send to us any topics you want covered in greater depth and ideas you want pursued. Contact Ashok or me at the following addresses: [email protected] or [email protected].
