Embarking as a direct upgrade for bypass diodes in solar panels, the SPV1001 device integrates control and power electronics to allow more energy from each solar cell to reach the power grid. The device integrates a low-loss power switch and a precision controller. In addition to package options enabling one-for-one replacement of bypass diodes in the solar panel's junction box, the SPV1001 is available in an MLPD package that can be laminated directly into the panel. Available in TO-220 and ultra low-profile MLPD packages, pricing is approximately $3 each/1,000. STMICROELECTRONICS, Lexington, MA. (888) 787-3550.
