Drawing 400 µA when active and 1.3 µA in sleep mode, the MSP430 family of µCs is designed to perform a wider range of tasks and operate for a longer period of time without a change of batteries. The wake-up time is 6 µs, letting the device sleep for a longer period before it has to wake up to perform a task in active mode. Designers can choose from a wide range of integrated memory and peripheral options such as ROMs, OTPs, EPROMs, RAMs, ADCs, LCD drivers and I/O interfaces. The RF-MCU chipset couples the MSP430 control with radio frequency communications to open up new application areas for energy-efficient systems. Furthermore, the ultra-low-power, embedded flash memory capability adds reprogrammability to this family.
