For heavy-duty applications, the RC series carbon-composition resistors with power ratings up to 1W are capable of handling overload voltages up to 1 kV and energy pulses up to 30J. Their carbon construction, said to be unique, allows for very high resistance values, reliable pulse-handling capabilities, and a non-inductive nature. The series is available with power ratings of 0.25W, 0.5W, and 1W at 70°C and resistance values from 1Ω to 20 MΩ with tolerances down to ±5%. Operating temperature range is from -55°C to +105°C. Depending on power and tolerance ratings, typical pricing is $0.08 each/1,000 with lead times from eight to 10 weeks. STACKPOLE ELECTRONICS INC., Raleigh, NC. (919) 850-9500.
