Ee 2011 02 Pauls Picks Snr Generator

SNR generator delivers five operating modes

The automated CNG-EbNo sets and maintains a ratio between a user-supplied carrier and internally generated noise over a range of signal power levels and frequencies. The instrument provides five operating modes: carrier-to-noise (C/N), carrier-to-noise density (C/No), bit energy-to-noise density (Eb/No), carrier-to-interferer (C/I), and power meter. It also can be used as a precision noise generator.

CNG-EbNo analyzers are available in off-the-shelf or customized frequency bands and with 50-Ω or 75-Ω impedance versions. The signal input range is -55 dBm to +5dBm; nominal gain for the carrier path is ±1.0 dB with a gain resolution of 0.1 dB and flatness from ±0.2 dB. Group delay is <±200 ps. The 6.25” color TFT touchscreen presents simultaneous readout of input and output signal levels relating to the chosen operating mode, including C/N ratios.
