RF signal generators

The DSG800 Series RF signal generators have expanded the vendor’s portfolio of RF test solutions. Targeting engineers integrating RF technology into their Internet of Things designs, the DSG800 Series covers output frequencies from 9 kHz to 3 GHz. The instruments provide maximum output power up to +20 dBm and low SSB phase noise of -105 dBc/Hz, amplitude accuracy of ±0.5 dB, and frequency resolution of 0.01 Hz at any frequency. An oven-controlled crystal oscillator time base supports <5 ppb temperature stability and <30 ppb/year aging stability.

The DSG800 is available in two models: the DSG815 (9 kHz to 1.5 GHz) for $1,999 and the DSG830 (9 kHz to 3 GHz) for $3,599. Rigol Technologies

Full travel distance is 4.5 mm, the working travel distance is 3.5 mm, and the working travel spring force is 1.5 N.

Various head styles and diameters are available. Head styles include concave, headless chisel, headless dome, serrated, and spear. A receptacle also is available along with the relevant screwing tools. Peak Test Services

FPGA evaluation kit

ARTY is a low power, low-cost Xilinx Artix-7 35T FPGA evaluation kit. This fully customizable kit for embedded designers provides a flexible, expandable platform for prototyping designs based on Xilinx’s Artix-7 FPGA family. It offers users a complete development system for exploring FPGA designs for cost-sensitive, low-power embedded applications.

The small form-factor ARTY board supports multiple expansion capabilities by having Arduino-compatible and chipKIT IDE header connectors along with four Digilent Pmod compatible headers. Avnet

GTP traffic simulator

A high-density GPRS Tunneling Protocol (GTP) traffic simulator called PacketLoad can simulate high-volume mobile data traffic (or user-plane traffic) over LTE, UMTS, and GPRS networks. PacketLoad is a high-density packet-traffic-generation module that generates stateful TCP/HTTP, UDP, and PCAP replay traffic and provides real-world traffic conditions in the lab. The 1U network appliance includes 4 x 1 GigE Ethernet ports supporting total capacity of up to 4-Gb/s stateful packet traffic generation. GL Communications

Optical spectrum analyzer

The AQ6375B is an optical spectrum analyzer operating in the short-wavelength infrared region, covering wavelengths from 1,200 nm to 2,400 nm. With a design based on the company’s AQ6375 instrument, the new analyzer combines high measurement performance with ease of operation and incorporates a number of new features including a gas purging function, a built-in cut-off filter, data-logging capabilities, a double-speed mode, and support for Windows file sharing.

The AQ6375B offers high wavelength accuracy of ±0.05 nm (1,520 to 1,580 nm) ±0.50 nm (full range) and high wavelength resolution of 0.05 nm, a wide close-in dynamic range of 55 dB, and a wide measurement level range from +20 dBm to -70 dBm. Yokogawa

PCIe 4.0 protocol exerciser

The Summit Z416 PCI Express protocol exerciser/analyzer supports exerciser functions that can be used for traffic generation and device/host emulation as well as providing the industry a platform for development of standardized compliance test suites. In addition, the Summit Z416 provides error-injection functions to enable developers to test error-recovery routines important to reliable interoperability of PCIe 4.0 products. Teledyne LeCroy

Vibration-cancellation platform

The Everstill K-400 compact benchtop active vibration-cancellation system is suitable for small, lightweight, ultra-precision instruments, including optical microscopes, scanning-probe microscopes, and metrology instruments, helping those tools achieve superior resolution.

The patented Everstill starts to isolate at 0.7 Hz and delivers significant vibration cancellation, especially in the critical 1-Hz to 10-Hz range. Everstill achieves that performance through an active “hard-mount” with serial-type architecture. The robust plug-and-play design requires no air. TMC, a unit of AMETEK Ultra Precision Technologies

Automotive development software

The Mentor Automotive Safety Certifiable Digital Instrument Cluster solution enables safety-critical driver information to be displayed simultaneously with 3D graphics on a single instrument-cluster display. The software architecture is implemented on a multicore and even on a single-core SoC, and it features very fast boot time. This new solution addresses a key problem for the automotive OEMs: how to migrate safety-critical driver information to full-featured, graphically rich digital instrument clusters and comply with safety standards including ISO 26262 without pushing up hardware or safety certification costs. Mentor Graphics

100-V solid-state multiplexer

The EX1200-3824 high-speed solid-state multiplexer provides flexible switching with eight banks of 1 x 24 one-wire multiplexers. This module is capable of accommodating more than 3,000 one-wire switching channels in a 3U EX1208A mainframe. System integrators also can mix and match this module with other EX1200 plug-ins for even greater flexibility in switching and instrumentation subsystem design.

The solid-state design of the module delivers extremely fast switching speed and a near infinite life, making the EX1200-3824 suitable for test and automation applications in which relays are continuously switching. VTI Instruments

AFM nanoscopic tool

The SmartScan atomic force microscopy (AFM) nanoscopic tool boosts productivity by creating point-and-click reliable nanoscale images. The new SmartScan operating software automates the imaging process, transforming how AFM effectively provides digital nanoscale imaging. SmartScan lets even inexperienced, untrained users produce high-quality nanoscale imaging through a single click of a mouse in auto mode to achieve reliable images at five times the normal speed of traditional AFM.

The easy-to-use auto mode feature eliminates the arduous operation of moving the Z scanner down to the sample. Previously, approaching to a few nanometers above the tip without crashing and calculating the optimum scan speed had been more art than science. Park Systems

24-bit, 2-MS/s SAR ADC

The LTC2380-24 no-latency 24-bit, 2-MS/s successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converter (ADC) features an integrated digital filter that averages 1 to 65,536 conversion results in real time, offering dynamic range of 101 dB at 1.5 MS/s and 145 dB at an output data rate of 30.5 S/s. The LTC2380-24 is suitable for seismic, medical, and other applications demanding high dynamic range.

Using an on-chip digital filter to average conversion results, the LTC2380-24 eliminates the processing burden from the digital host, conserving digital resources and the associated power. Moreover, the LTC2380-24 allows results to be read out with a serial clock as low as 2 MHz, easing interfacing to microprocessors and enabling use with slower devices. Linear Technology

Development Board

The BeagleBone Green Linux-based development board updates the popular BeagleBone Black, retaining the AM335x 1-GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor from Texas Instruments. Rather than keeping the BeagleBone Black’s HDMI connector and chip, the BeagleBone Green contains Seeed Studio’s plug-and-play Grove connectors. With this new board, Seeed Studio looks to help developers and designers capitalize on Seeed’s modular Grove system and the board’s general-purpose I/O  expansion capabilities.

The BeagleBone Green ships with Linux and BeagleBoard’s Cloud9 integrated development environment on the eMMC and supports Debian, Ubuntu, and many other distributions of Linux, Android, and other open-source operating systems. Mouser Electronics
