Matrox Imaging unveils Clarity UHD frame grabber

Jan. 14, 2016

Montreal, Canada. Matrox Imaging today announced Matrox Clarity UHD, a single-slot PCIe frame grabber that provides Mini DisplayPort, HD-BNC, HDMI, and custom analog DVI connectivity for SD, HD, and UHD video sources. Matrox Clarity UHD can simultaneously acquire multiple video streams such as four HD (1080p60) or two UHD (4K) streams. Optional encoding using H.264 baseline to high 4:4:4 predictive profiles enables optimal video storage and distribution.

Suitable for medical imaging, surveillance, and training simulation systems, Matrox Clarity UHD builds on the Matrox Vio and Matrox Orion HD lines of frame grabbers with the addition of UHD support and optional H.264 encoding in hardware.

“With Matrox Clarity UHD, program managers and developers now have a single video capture solution that addresses the emergence of UHD video while still providing support for legacy HD and SD formats,” said Michael Chee, product manager, Matrox Imaging. “Support for the multiple inputs can eliminate the need for end users to redo system video connections, and multi-stream capture on a single-slot PCIe card can reduce system cost and footprint.”

Early access Matrox Clarity UHD units and Matrox Imaging Library (MIL) 10 drivers for Windows will be available in Q2 2016.
