In plastic leadless PLCC-2 packages featuring silicon encapsulate to increase operating life, the OP180 and OP280 series surface-mount infrared LEDs address a wide range of single-device and array-based applications. With a forward current of 20 mA, the OP180 GaAs components offer a 940-nm peak wavelength and deliver 0.5 mW/cm2 of power with a 100° half power angle while the OP280K GaAIAs with an 875-nm peak wavelength delivers 0.85 mW/cm2 and a 90° half power angle. The OP280KT GaAIAs with reverse polarity terminals offer an 850-nm peak wavelength, 0.85mW/cm2 of output power, and a 90° half power angle. With an 850-nm peak wavelength and smaller spot size, the OP280PS point source GaAIAs delivers 0.15 mW/cm2 and a 50° half-power angle. Finally, the OP280V is an 850-nm invisible VCSEL (class 1M) providing 2.50 mW/cm2 of power from a forward current of 7 mA IF and an 18° half power angle. Typical pricing for the OP180 and OP280 Series IR LEDs starts at $0.22 each/1,000. OPTEK TECHNOLOGY INC., Carrollton, TX. (972) 323-2200.
