The HSMR-CL25 blue and HSMW-CL25 white LEDs are claimed as the industry’s thinnest surface-mount LEDs in an industry-standard 0603 footprint. Measuring about the size of a pencil tip—1.6 mm x 0.8 mm x 0.25 mm—the components represent a lower-cost alternative to EL backlighting, eliminating the need for high voltages. The HSMR-CL25 InGaN blue LED provides a 473 nm dominant wavelength and an 11.2 mcd to 45 mcd luminous intensity, while the HSMW-CL25 InGaN phosphor white exhibits a luminous intensity from 28.5 mcd to 112.5 mcd. Operating temperature ranges from –40°C to +85°C. Prices for the ASMC-QHB2-TCD0E and ASMC-QAB2-TAC0E range from $0.23 to $0.29 each depending on quantity.
