New Green LEDs have the brightness for office projectors

Normal0falsefalsefalseEN-USX-NONEX-NONEMicrosoftInternetExplorer4Using the latest chip technology and a green phosphor converter, engineers at Osram Opto Semiconductors have built a green LED with twice the brightness of previous green LEDs. The single-chip device emits 410 lumens of light at 553 nm. The new chip will find immediate use in projectors capable of putting out 2,000 lumens and creating images 6-ft in diameter. LED-based projectors for offices and conference rooms will create more saturated colors and require less maintenance than conventional projectors that rely on high-intensity discharge (HID) lamps. For example, LEDs should last 30,000 hr, whereas HID lamps last only 4,000.
