HVM Handler Evaluation Shows 20k-Unit MCBJ

November 11, 2013. Multitest, a designer and manufacturer of final test handlers, contactors, and load boards used by integrated device manufacturers (IDMs) and final-test subcontractors, announced that it received the official data from an evaluation of the MT2168 that confirms the performance of the MT2168 pick-and-place handler. During this evaluation on a high-volume-manufacturing (HVM) test floor in Asia, more than 2.3 million packages were handled. The MT2168 was directly compared to competitive products and demonstrated predominant results in major areas including jam rate, first-pass yield, and down time.

The material flow of the MT2168 enhances both stability and throughput. The Multitest handler was compared to its competitors and achieved superior ratings in five out of the six categories. The most outstanding categories were soak capacity with six times as many packages as the competition; first-pass yield more than 0.5% higher than the competition; and 25% less daily downtime than the competition. Additionally, the MT2168 had a mean count between jam (MCBJ) of more than 20k units and exceeded the customer’s expectations by factor 4.

Günther Jeserer, business unit manager for gravity and pick-and-place, commented, “This evaluation perfectly proves the technological supremacy of the innovative architecture that provides unmatched benefits for HVM, like in this case, but at the same time offers the highest scalability and cost-efficiency to meet the different requirements for R&D and productions sites.”
