Dr. Ray Ridley, who has been designing and researching power supplies for over 35 years, has created a cartoon series that reflects the current climate in our industry.
We taught our first full hands-on workshop in 2000. The PC boards for the course came in a mere three weeks before the first session. They were unpopulated, and untested. We had to build 20 boards by hand in a few days to stay on schedule, including multiple sockets and test pins. Our four kids at the time ranged in age from 4 to 7. They were all set up in a production line putting parts on the board that I would then solder in place. A great team-building exercise!
