A new high-current power inductor has been designed with an operating temperature range of –40°C to +155°C, application specific. Designed for applications with dc currents up to 34.7A, the Coiltronics Flat Pac 3 low-profile is well-suited for use in computers, telecommunications equipment and portable power devices. Higher peak currents may be attained with a greater rolloff. The 3 mm height, combined with very low DCR makes the FP3 useful in VRM modules. Other uses include energy storage, dc/dc converters and input-output filter applications. Eleven part numbers are available in inductance ratings from 0.1 to 15 µh with operating frequencies up to 2 MHz. The device comes in tape-and-reel packaging at 1,700 parts per reel.
