Specifically developed for forming gaskets and pads for use in small portable electronic devices, this ultra-thin, 12-mil version of the company's Poron line of urethane foams is said to exhibit excellent energy absorption and dimensional stability during processing. The material consists of 0.25 mm cellular urethane supported by a 0.05 mm polyester (PET) film.
In addition to providing protection against shock and vibration, the foam is said to outperform softer elastomers in drop testing and to offer a long-lasting compressive seal and an attractive finished surface on both sides. Other features of Poron 4701-50-30012-04 microcellular urethane include high resistance to shrinking or stretching and low outgassing.
