Featuring 5V operation, low ESR, and capacitance values ranging from 0.1F to 1.0 F, the PowerStor P Series of aerogel super capacitors is said to combine the best features of high-energy rechargeable batteries and high-power electrolytic capacitors. Two types are available: the low ESR, high-power PA Series with ESR values ranging from 0.15½ to 0.2½; and the higher energy density PB Series with ESR values ranging from 0.5½ to 6½. Both series are available with vertical or horizontal leads.Hold-up applications requiring a short, high-current pulse prior to low-current memory backup mode are said to be ideal for the P Series. According to the company, the P Series will have minimal voltage drop during the current pulse, thereby avoiding microprocessor, memory or real-time clock shutdown.
