APEC 2008, Austin, TX - With the introduction of five GreenPoint open reference designs at APEC this week, ON Semiconductor now has made available a total of 12 power-efficient designs. Each constitutes a blueprint for a power supply or power adapter solution proven to meet or exceed evolving energy-saving standards, according to the company.

At the conference, ON Semiconductor exhibited energy-efficient home office and home entertainment stations run entirely by power supplies and power adaptors created with GreenPoint reference designs. The office included a notebook computer, computer monitor, printer, DSL modem, and mobile phone charger. The home entertainment electronics included an LCD television, a game box, and power supplies for a set-top box and digital-to-analog TV converter boxes.

“ON Semiconductor has been focused on delivering green-technology solutions that are both power efficient and cost competitive since 2005,” said Andy Williams, vice president and general manager of ON Semiconductor’s Automotive and Power Regulation Group. “Again and again we have proven with our GreenPoint reference designs that highly efficient power supplies and adapters can be brought to market today for a full set of advanced electronic appliances. Customers have welcomed the technology and the ease of our design. We expect ON Semiconductor’s energy efficiency improvements to help deliver real and tangible benefits to the environment.”
