The VCT60 series of 60-W ac-dc power supplies from XP Power fit into a standard 1U space, measuring 2 by 4 by 0.95 in., targeting applications requiring an economical power supply that fits into an industry-standard 2- by 4-in footprint. The first product in this open-frame family comprises 10 single-output models that provide popular nominal output voltages from +5 to +30 V dc.

With a no-load power consumption totaling less than 0.5 W, the VCT60 helps designers comply with internationally recognized energy-saving initiatives. Applications include alarm systems, door entry systems, point-of-sale equipment, vending machines, networking equipment, and lower-tier consumer applications.

The VCT60 can deliver 125% of rated power for up to 30 seconds. Designers don’t need to specify a higher-rated unit when additional power is only needed for short periods, saving space and cost. Operating from –10°C to 70°C, the power supply also can provide full output power up to 50°C. No additional heatsinking or forced airflow is required, again saving space and the cost of extra cooling components.

The units comply with the EN55022, level B standard for conducted and radiated emissions without additional filtering components. Overvoltage, overload, and short-circuit protection features are included as standard across the whole series. The VCT60 costs $21.00 each in OEM quantities. It’s available now from Newark and from XP Power.
