Providing transient voltage protection for high-intensity discharge (HID) lighting and lighting ballast applications, these new single-chip devices are rated for breakdown voltages up to 540V. The transient voltage suppressors (TVSs) are made using a patent-pending process that yields improved surge capability, lower leakage currents, and improved voltage clamping for high-voltage applications. The new additions to the company's extensive line of TVSs increase the available maximum breakdown voltage from 440V to 540V in P4KE, P6KE and 1.5KE480 axial-leaded TVS families and from 220V to 540V in the surface-mount P4SMA, P6SMB and 1.5SMC families. Prices for the new TVSs start at $0.10 each/100K. For more details, contact VISHAY INTERTECHNOLOGY INC., Malverne, PA. (610) 644-1300.
