Available in both analog and digital models, the QT50U programmable ultrasonic sensor has a maximum sensing range of up to 26' and a minimum range of 8". It is said to employ an advanced microprocessor design that simplifies setup and programming while offering added application flexibility. The sensor's TEACH programming is via two pushbuttons or a remote wire, with the latter also used to disable the pushbuttons to prevent tampering. In addition, an 8-pin DIP switch provides added configuration flexibility and enables the sensor's temperature compensation feature. And besides the device’s independent near and far limits per output, a retro-sonic mode is also provided for "teaching" the sensor a distinct point within the sensing range for detecting any object, regardless of shape, size or reflective angle, that passes between the sensor face and the distinct point. LED indicators provide constant operating status information, with the 10-to-30 Vdc unit having a maximum output rating of 60 mA. Available with a 5-conductor cable or 5-pin Euro-style or Mini-style quick-disconnect, the QT50U has a starting price of $489. BANNER ENGINEERING CORP., Minneapolis, MN. (888) 373-6767.
