Power supplies and soldering are unnecessary to verify the operation of an LED when using the TestLED hand-held tester. A user inserts the suspect LED into ports located beneath the appropriate current setting and presses a button. If the suspect LED lights up, it is good, if not, it is no good. The tester accommodates 11 types of discrete LEDs and has 6 current ports: 2, 5, 10, 20, 30 and 50 mA. Three additional ports are configured for different combinations of anodes and cathodes for the testing of tri-color LEDs. The unit is powered by a 9V battery. Price is $39.50 each in 5-piece quantities. LEDTRONICS INC., Torrance, CA. (800) 579-4875.
