Expanding the QuickSense HI portfolio, the Si114x next-generation infrared and ambient light sensors for human interface applications offer what their maker calls the industry’s most sensitive, power-efficient, and longest range proximity sensors. The components’ IR sensing architecture operates in direct sunlight and includes an ambient light sensor capable of sensing light levels up to 128 kilolux. It also enables proximity measurements in 25 ms. Sensor options include up to three infrared LED drivers, enabling one-dimensional HI systems with a detection range beyond 50 cm or multi-dimensional systems capable of gesture sensing with ranges of up to 15 cm. Available in a10-pin QFN measuring 2 mm x 2 mm x 0.75 mm, pricing starts from $1.22 each/10,000 for a single LED implementation. SILICON LABORATORIES INC., Austin, TX. (877) 444-3032.
