Moravian Yo-Kai Express Autonomous Restaurant

Moravian University’s Yo-Kai Express isn’t a typical robot but rather an autonomous restaurant the size of a vending machine that cooks food on demand. The robot serves ramen and other styles of soup, specifically udon and pho, which are prepackaged and stored frozen within the machine and heated as ordered to maintain freshness. An integrated touchscreen allows customers to choose their meals, which are cooked and dispensed in about five minutes using proprietary technology.

The university also unveiled a desktop version known as YKE Desktop, which can be paired with an RFID freezer that serves up to 24 bowls of ramen in about 90 seconds.

Attendees at CES 2024 witnessed a next-level evolution in robotics with machines that blur the line between science fiction and reality. These robots are no mere automatons, but rather sophisticated and intelligent platforms that look to be integrated into our daily lives.
