Inductor Supply Inc.’s (ISI) new SMT current sense transformers for dc-to-dc converter applications model CST5028 feature a low profile (0.280 in.), small footprint (0.495 in. × 0.575 in.), and a pick-and-place header. Units provide a closed magnetic field due to toroidal construction, ensuring low electromagnetic interference (EMI).

Product applications include designs of isolated high-power dc-to-dc brick or discrete power supplies, distributed power systems in Telecom and Datacom networks, industrial control systems, medical instruments, and automotive and heavy equipment systems. Functions include feedback control, overload sensing, load drop or shutdown detection.

The CST5028 series has available turns ratios of 1-to-150, 100, 200 and provides a current rating of 15 A. The product is designed for stable performance with minimum drift across an extended operating temperature range of –40°C to 130°C. The transformers operate within a frequency range of 50 kHz to 500 kHz.
