Intersil Corp.’s new ISL6566 is a 3-phase PWM control IC with integrated MOSFET drivers that provide a precision voltage regulation system that includes programmable VID codes compatible with Intel Pentium 4 VRM9 & VRM10/10.1 and AMD Opteron and AMD Athlon microprocessors.

ISL6566 features include 1-, 2- or 3-phase power conversion; precision core voltage regulation; and differential remote voltage sensing for tighter accuracy. A system accuracy of ±0.5% overtemperature saves output capacitors. In addition, the IC offers an adjustable reference-voltage offset for load line programming; loss-less RDS(ON) current sampling, accurate load line programming, and loss-less inductor DCR current sampling. The chip generates a variable gate drive bias of 5 V to 12 V. Other features include digital soft-start and a selectable switching frequency of up to 1.5 MHz per phase.

The ISL6566 is available now in Pb-free, 6-mm × 6-mm QFN packaging. Suggested pricing in 10,000 unit quantities is $1.75 for each IC.
