Power-One has introduced the QKS48T210120, a 21-A output quarter-brick dc-dc converter intended for use in intermediate bus architectures (IBAs). Operating from a 36-V to 75-V input, this dc-dc converter produces a loosely regulated 12-V output while achieving efficiencies up to 94%.

The converter is built using a single-board design incorporating advanced thermal-management techniques that minimize requirements for power derating over temperature. Only 300 LFM of cooling is required to provide full-rated power at temperatures up to 55°C. At 70°C ambient, 15.7 A (188 W) of output is available with 200 LFM of airflow.

The QKS48T210120 will withstand a 100-V/100-ms input-voltage surge. Additional features include 1500-Vdc input-to-output isolation, basic safety insulation rating and start-up into pre-biased loads. Interface capabilities include primary-referenced remote on/off and remote sense. The converter also protects against output backdrive, output overvoltage and overcurrent, input undervoltage and overtemperature.

The QKS48T210120 is designed to comply with NEBS GR-1089 and GR-63. Regulatory agency approvals include UL60950-1, CSA C22.2 No. 60950-1-03, TUV EN60950-1:2001 and IEC60950-1:2001. Pricing is $55 each in quantities of 1000.
