GrafTech International has promoted Dr. Julian Norley, Ph.D., DIC, ARSM, to Senior Corporate Fellow, the company's highest R&D scientist position, for his outstanding leadership and contributions to the research and development of the company's eGraf thermal management product offerings.
"Dr. Norley has been instrumental in the invention, innovation and successful commercialization of the company's electronic thermal management products and solutions," said John Wetula, president of Advanced Energy Technology Inc. (AET), a subsidiary of GTI.
Norley has achieved international recognition during his tenure as GTI director of technology. He has received five U.S. patents with another 17 pending, published technical articles on the use of natural graphite materials in electronics cooling, and served as a guest speaker at national and international industry conferences. In addition, Norley has been a part of the GTI team that received two R&D 100 Awards presented for the 100 most technologically significant new products.
Norley joined AET in 1997 and is responsible for the development of materials for both the electronic thermal management and supercapacitor markets. He received his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in metallurgy from Imperial College, London, and has more than 20 years experience working in the area of carbon and graphite science.
GrafTech manufactures thermal management, fuel cell, fluid sealing and automotive gasket materials, and other specialty natural graphite products through its AET subsidiary.
