RoHS-Compliant, Halogen-free KLT Series Switch

Feb. 15, 2013

C&K Components has developed the KLT Series of top-actuated pico switches. Employing a small 1.4mm dome within a patented new type of switch structure that represents a significant reduction in size of the existing KMT Series of nano switches, the KLT Series switches are ideal for mobile phones and handheld MP3 player accessories as well as any other professional devices where compact packaging is of the essence.

Featuring actuation forces of 1.0N, 1.6 and 2.2N, the KLT Series switches have a 30% tactile minimum and measure 2.7 x 1.85 x 0.55mm. The halogen free and RoHS-compliant switch is currently in the prototype stage, and features a 300,000-cycle lifespan along with IP-68 rated sealing.

"The goal of the KLT Series design is to facilitate simple integration within existing systems that require more space savings than are typically afforded by other miniature pushbutton switches," said Jerome Smolinski, senior product manager at C&K Components. "The KLT Series, with its extended lifespan and rugged design by way of advanced films and strong metal bases, will be the ideal choice for designers working with limited space but who cannot afford to sacrifice switch or signal quality."

The KLT Series switches feature a small footprint and the highest number of cycles within the smallest packaging. The momentary action pushbutton switch has a maximum power rating of .5VA, maximum voltage rating of 32VDC, and is fully functionality within a temperature range of -40ºC to 85ºC.
