Siano Goes With The Flo, You Get Better Multimedia Coverage

July 10, 2007
Recently, Qualcomm gave Siano Mobile Silicon, a supplier of semiconductor solutions for mobile digital TV (MDTV), the thumbs-up to incorporate its patented FLO technology in semiconductor chip-products for multi-standard MDTV receivers.

In 2006 Qualcomm Incorporated passed a broad-base licensing program, opening the doors to its forward link only (FLO) technology, allowing developers to manufacturer FLO-enabled handsets. Recently, Qualcomm gave Siano Mobile Silicon, a supplier of semiconductor solutions for mobile digital TV (MDTV), the thumbs-up to incorporate its patented FLO technology in semiconductor chip-products for multi-standard MDTV receivers.

FLO technology, a broadcast innovation and key component of the MediaFLO System, is a globally recognized air-interface technology designed to increase the coverage of multimedia content delivery to mobile handsets and reduce costs for service providers. The agreement with Qualcomm enables Siano to develop and market FLO chips to its customers, with possible integration onto its multi-standard chip.

MediaFLO is a global mobile entertainment platform that enables broadcasting of high-quality video, audio, Clipcasting media, and IP datacasting streams to mobile handsets. The MediaFLO System is a mesh of MediaFLO Media Distribution Systems and FLO Technology, which provides an end-to-end solution for the distribution of large volumes of high-quality mobile multimedia content to mobile devices.
