Endevco Corporation, provider of solutions for vibration, shock, and pressure applications, provided advanced accelerometers for the main engine controllers in Endeavour, NASA's latest shuttle launched last month. Endevco model 7704M7 vibration sensors were designed into Endeavour's main engines: three Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne SSMEs, which are reusable rocket engines. The engines carry the new Advanced Health Management System (AHMS) controllers which monitor engine turbopump vibration and can automatically shut down an engine if necessary. "We are honored to have been selected to provide a critical component for an innovative system designed to support efforts by NASA and Pratt & Whitney in continually improving safety for NASA Shuttle crews," Endevco President Scott Silcock said in a statement.
