Debuting as Akustica’s first digital microphone, the AKU2002C employs patented CMOS MEMS technology whereby both transducer and electronics reside on a single chip in a CMOS wafer. It is an omni-directional microphone in a 3.76- by 4.72-mm package and has pin and footprint compatibility with earlier generations of the AKU2002. Additionally, the component is lead free, surface mountable, RoHS compliant, and is automated pick-and-place compatible. Available first quarter 2009, the AKU2002C is priced at $2.09 per 1000 units.
