Integrated power stage devices simplify server design

International Rectifier (IR) expands its PowIRstage family of integrated devices with the introduction of the 40A IR3553, designed for next-generation servers and consumer and communication systems. The IR3553 integrates a synchronous buck gate driver, benchmark figure-of-merit control, and synchronous MOSFETs and Schottky diode into a compact 6 x 4 x 0.9 mm PQFN package to deliver a high current density, high efficiency power stage solution to simplify the design and implementation of high current, high performance multiphase buck regulators.

PowIRstage products provide an integrated, current sense amplifier that achieves impressive current sense accuracy and noise immunity compared to other controller-based inductor DCR sense methods. The IR3553 and IR3550 are PWM compatible with IR’s CHiL digital power control products, as well as most industry-standard PWM controllers on the market.
