Clocks Meld EEPROM And System Management

April 1, 2002

The X1288 real-time clock family combines clock and calendar functions with 32K x 8-bit EEPROM and CPU management building blocks. Supervisory functions include a watchdog timer, programmable low-voltage detection, and power-on-reset. The watchdog timer supports several selectable timeout intervals from 250 ms to 1.75s. Other features include on-chip oscillator compensation that eliminates the need for an external RC circuit. Sporting the same features with the exception of the supervisory functions, the X1286 family is offered as a lower-cost alternative. Both families operate on supplies from 1.8V to 5.5V and feature an alarm function that allows users to preset time- or calendar-based events. The X1286 family is priced from $2.93 to $3.07 each/100 and the X1288 ranges from $3.22 to $3.38 each/100. XICOR, INC., Milpitas, CA. (408) 546-3317.
